Japan tightens measures against private jet pilots with three-strikes rule

Japan is tightening measures against private jet pilots who fail to follow instructions from air traffic control, with three strikes resulting in a ban from Tokyo's Haneda Airport.

The move comes as the government tries to attract business jets and other private jets to airports nationwide. But as the number of private jet flights increase, so too have pilots who fail to comply with traffic controls, which could lead to large-scale accidents.

Last year, there were five instances of foreign-owned private jets not following instructions from air traffic control, according to the transport ministry.
